Less than two weeks remain for the public to vote for England’s next Curry Capital for 2026 to 2028, with these five cities battling it out for the top spot: Leicester, London, Birmingham, Manchester and Bradford. It is not just about curry when it comes to this award. The main purpose is to highlight how distinguished South Asian cuisine is, and what each city has contributed in terms of cultural influence.

Founder and journalist Romail Gulzar has urged communities to show their support before the deadline.
"Our curry heritage is woven into England’s identity. These cities are not just serving food, they are serving history, innovation and pride. I encourage everyone to back their city and help decide who will be crowned the next Curry Capital," he said.

The award is a national title that takes place every two years. Its purpose is to highlight which city best represents culture and cuisine.
The current title is held by Leicester, which won in 2024. Its term runs until June 2026, when the newly elected city will take over.
Public voting for the 2026 to 2028 award opened in March 2026 and will close on 1 May 2026. The official winner will be revealed in mid June 2026.
